THE VILLAGE
Les Gets, lying at the south-west end of the famous Portes du Soleil ski area, is not very well known to British skiers. The main patrons are the French themselves, and particularly the Savoyards from the Haute Savoie region, and they ought to know ! Although the village is relatively low at 1170 metres, its position and the fact that its lower slopes are meadows results in a better history of snow cover even than such internationally renowned centres as Val D’Isere in the Espace Killy and Courcheval in the Trois Vallées. |

The pretty village of Les Gets was originally (and still is) a farming community and has all the advantages of being linked to one of the largest lift systems in the world without the usual disadvantage of high-rise hotels and apartment blocks retaining its quaint old styled buildings. There are many family run shops and restaurant who make visitors feel very welcome with a friendly french atmosphere.
With Les Gets being only one hour transfer from Geneva airport it makes a great place for a weekend break or longer holiday.
Les Gets can offer you all types
of winter sports, snow boarding,
telemark, cross-country or even
para-gliding. The village has
plenty for the non skier too,
bowling alley, cinema, sledging
with dogs and tobogganing not
to mention the out door Ice skating
rink, mechanical music museum
or a visit to the Perriers cheese
dairy.
There is a Health and Beauty centre
and a fabulous local street market
on Thursday Mornings. |
The village has a good night life
with over 20 excellent restaurants
and bars.
